Explain what is meant by androgyny, and why being androgynous is more adaptable for both males and females
What will be an ideal response?
Answer will include that androgyny refers to a person being high in both feminine and masculine personality traits, that is, being able to be nurturant when the situation requires this trait and being assertive when a situation requires assertiveness. Thus, having rigid gender traits can seriously restrict behaviors, such as in relationships and on the job. Masculine men find it hard to accept emotional support from others, particularly from women. Feminine women have trouble being independent and assertive, even when these qualities are desirable. In contrast, more androgynous individuals are higher in emotional intelligence. Androgynous persons are more flexible when it comes to coping with different situations. They also tend to be more satisfied with their lives because they use both instrumental and emotionally-expressive capacities to enhance their lives and relationships.
