The connectionist model consists of neural networks. The basic elements of the neural networks are called units, which combine to form different patterns. Each unit has a certain level of activation and is connected by links. The links vary in how strongly they are weighted, with heavily weights links capable of transmitting activation between two units more easily than lightly weighted links.
