An introvert has low inclusion needs; an extrovert has high inclusion needs. Figure 6.3
lists 11 ways in which introverted behavior differs from that of extroverts. The text recommends
that introverts venture into social situations, making a concerted effort to practice appropriate
social behaviors (such as eye contact, questions, and conversation-starters). Tips for talking with
introverts include scheduling a time (thus allowing the introvert to prepare), using nonverbal
communication, and avoiding interruption.
