What do encoding and decoding mean?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Encoding involves the source's selection of words, images, and other forms of communication to create a message. Decoding involves the receiver's attempt to produce meaning from the source's message. In successful cross-cultural communication, the source must understand how a message will be decoded before it can encode it.
