What are some of the effects of poverty on families and adolescents?

What will be an ideal response?

Poverty increases levels of depression for parents, intensifies arguments between parents and adolescents, and may
also lead to marital conflict and shaky marriages. Parents may be focused on their own difficulties, and
consequently spend less time providing direct care to their adolescents. Parenting practices may be more harsh and
inconsistent when parents are under economic strain.
