Why is it not desirable to give most speeches from a manuscript and what are the five guidelines the
authors offer to improve manuscript speaking?
What will be an ideal response?
Speaking from a manuscript is not recommended in all situations because it is difficult to
connect with an audience while reading a speech. If speaking from a manuscript, a speaker should:
(1 ) Practice with the notes or manuscript you will actually use in delivering the speech.
(2 ) Number your note cards or the pages of your manuscript.
(3 ) Determine when you should and should not look at your notes.
(4 ) Slide your notes or the pages of your manuscript rather than turning them.
(5 ) Devote extra practice time to your conclusion.
